Why I Chose Cloth Diapers
I remember putting that first cloth diaper on the baby - it was so soft! I was hooked immediately and couldn't wait to order more. What was so special? Well, let me tell you a few of my reasons for choosing cloth diapers:
The comfort of your baby - Compared to a soft, clean-smelling cotton diaper, disposable diapers feel so stiff and unnatural. When I put a cloth diaper on my baby, I know I am providing the best comfort possible for her.
Preserving the environment - Disposable diapers leave behind a ton of non biodegradable waste; an average of 2.7 tons per child! With two in diapers at the same time, we certainly hauled our fair share of garbage to the curb every week. When I use cloth diapers, I feel like that I am doing my small part in preserving the environment.
Saving money - You don't have to be a genius to see the savings in using cloth diapers. The average cost of diapering a child with disposables (through potty training) can be as high as $2,000 per child. You can cloth diaper one child for as little as $300 to $400 per child, (the minimal cost of electricity and water to wash is not added into this figure). As an added benefit, the resale value on your used cloth diapers is very high and you can reuse them on subsequent children.
Style - There are so many choices of cloth diapers! The colors, fabrics, and styles are unlimited - you can choose a diaper that matches your taste. I don't think I've seen a disposable diaper yet that can beat a cloth diaper in cuteness.
