All About Prefolds
Why are prefolds a good choice? Prefolds are extremely economical - you can usually buy a dozen for around $20.00. Pair them with a few great fitting covers (I like Thirsties) and you have a complete diaper system.
You don't have to change the cover with each fitting, so they are definitely cheaper than pockets or all-in-ones. If the cover is wet, let air dry and rotate with another cover. Fold a prefold into thirds and just place it inside your cover - no pins or fastener needed. I like using this system when we are at home - it is so easy and quick. (At nighttime, or when we are leaving the house, I will use pins or some type of fastener.)
Fold your prefold into thirds and use it as an insert inside your pocket diaper. A prefold is great to use as a nighttime insert - place a doubler (try our Punkin-Butt Fuzzy Doublers) inside the folds to add extra absorbancy.
Fold it into a third and use it as a doubler. Lay it on top of your AIO diaper or your pocket diaper during naps, overnight, or car trips.
Buy extras and use them as spit up or baby burp rags. When you have exhausted all possible baby uses for your prefolds, use them as cleaning rags. Prefolds are built to last so these are probably the best cleaning rags you'll ever use.
